Hello everyone!
I am so sorry that I have not given an update on my sweet Mom in a week! Life has been a bit crazy lately with a veryyyy active toddler running around! {Yes, he's a runner and takes off everywhere!!!}
Let me fill all of you in on Mom...
She had another good week. We continue to see her strength build each day and she continues to stay awake for longer periods of time. It's getting very hard to leave her now because she holds on tight and shakes her head no when you say goodbye. It breaks my heart. = (
Her breathing is still great, she has had her trach capped for days now! The plan is to keep the trach in for a bit longer for precautionary measures. Hopefully by the time she moves to TIRR it will be out.
Our darling friend and hair stylist, Simmie came to visit Mom at Kindred and gave her a "Simmie Do!" She gave her a good wash and a fabulous style. Mom is rocking a short do now and it looks great on her! It will be a lot easier for us to take care of. Our sweet lady was sleeping on a braided knot for 11 weeks, that could not have been comfortable!! Thanks again Simmie, you made Mom's day!
The past few days she has started mouthing words to us, no sound yet {and that will probably be one of the last things to come back because of the location of the hemorrhage} but the fact that her brain can control her lips and tongue movement at the same time to get the words out is a huge step!!! The words are simple - for example she has said Wow, Hi, Hello, Rachel and Simmie. I'm sure she has said other words but that is what I have seen the past few days.
Recently, we asked Mom if she would like a little taste of a Popsicle and she said yes! I went down the list of flavors and told her to give me a thumbs up when I said the flavor she wanted. Mom wanted cherry! The next day, Dad came with a cherry popsicle! She had one lick and called it a day. I may have been a bit more excited about her first taste of flavor than her! ; )
I hope this post leaves you with a smile! Our sweet lady and my family appreciate all the caring gestures and prayers. Your kind words are keeping us going! Thank you!!
This week we covet your prayers for patience for our Sweet Mom. We can see that she is starting to become frustrated with the whole situation. {We completely understand, we would be too!} Please keep the prayers coming, God is Good and will get her through this phase too!
Love,
Rachel

Dearest Rachel,
ReplyDeleteThank U for the update.
Sounds like ongoing progress.
"slow but steady is a good thing" This is not race but a healing journey! Praying for God to send all his angels to Cathy's room to fill her with peace and patience along the way. She is such a remarkable lady and is allowed to have her "OFF" days. My prayer is for an increase in the good moments and decrease in the tough ones. Keep the blogs coming....U R the best. Now put on those running shoes and go enjoy your little one. That's what Momma wants U to do!!!
Love to all,
Aunt ME
Rachel,
ReplyDeleteI have been away from the compter for a few days and was glad to see your update when I went on today. It is so good to hear that things are progressing a little at a time. Prayers continue to come your way for Cathy and all of you. I know it is hard on all of you.
Keep us in your prayers too. Each day I see Jack slipping away. We are doing our best. We are so blessed to have our faimly near. They are all a big help.
