Update #1

We just heard from the nurses that the surgery started at 10:17am and all vitals are currently good.

As soon as we hear more, I'll post!

The Surgery has Started

We all arrived at Memorial Hermann at 5:30am. My mom got all checked in and we met several of the anesthesiologists (Dr. Caldwell is a fellow TCU Horned Frog) and we talked with Dr. Shane (Dr. Kim's right hand man) My mom was very comfortable and ready to get the show on road!

At 7:30, we kissed her goodbye and they wheeled her into the OR. The anesthesiologists said they would need two hours of prep time with her before the surgery to do a spinal tap and drain some of the fluid from the brain before Dr. Kim could begin.

Please keep the prayers coming!

God is Good!

Halloween Fun with Grandma!

My Mom absolutely LOVES Fall & Halloween! This year she will be in ICU on Halloween so we celebrated a few days early with her!

All the kiddos dressed up in costume and went trick or treating around the house. Each adult took a door and passed out lots of candy! Grammy was the last stop, she gave out the most candy!! ; )

Surgery is Scheduled

On Monday, October 29th at 7:30am our loving Mother will be heading into surgery at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas. She will be under the care of the phenomenal Neurosurgeon Dr. Dong Kim. We have complete faith in Dr. Kim and his exceptional team of Doctors and Nurses.

Her surgery will be an all day event, Dr. Kim estimates between 8-12 hours. As we are updated by Dr. Kim throughout the day I will update the blog to keep everyone posted. My mom is a very strong woman and we are 100% confident that she will be even stronger after this surgery. It will be a very delicate surgery, as it will be taking place in her brain stem.

We would like to thank each and every one of you for the outpouring of love and support, it means the world to us. We are very blessed to be surrounded by such loving individuals. We know that God has a great plan for our sweet Mom and we are just along for the ride!

Our Sweet Momma

On August 10, 2012 our sweet sweet Mom, Catherine Sedlak was diagnosed with a Cavernous Angioma in her Brain Stem.

When she was first diagnosed with the brain tumor her symptoms were very mild, so mild that we didn't believe she had a tumor! She looked wonderful and felt great! Within two months, she went from mild tingling in her mouth and fingers to not being able to walk without assistance.

Everything is happening very fast. We are still trying to accept the fact that our Mom is very sick. She is in great hands, surrounded by family and friends taking care of her. We love her so much and will do whatever it takes to get her back to being happy and healthy!

Thank you so much for all the prayers, please keep them coming!

God Bless John Chris

On Sunday, April 1, our sweet little John Chris was Baptized by Father TJ at the new St. Martha Church in Kingwood. Father TJ is the Priest who married John and I so it was a very special occasion having him baptize our first baby! John Chris' Godparents are Kelly Rhodes (my older sister) and Andrew Nicholson (John's little brother). After the ceremony we hosted a Celebration Dinner at our house to celebrate John Chris! A few of the pictures below are from John Chris' big weekend!
